From what age can my child be admitted to Lorenzini?
We accept children from their 1st birthday. Care continues until school entry. At the Sommerhuder Straße location, care is provided only until the child’s 3rd birthday.
What care hours do you offer?
Our facilities have the following opening hours:
- Averhoffstraße 28: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Sommerhuder Straße 35a: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Stresemannstraße 52: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Friedensallee 260: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Thus, all facilities accept 5, 6, 8, and 10-hour vouchers.

Costs
What are the costs for attending the daycare?
We participate in the Hamburg voucher system. Please use the daycare contribution calculator provided by the City of Hamburg, available on their service portal. In addition, within the usual range of chargeable offers for cultural activities and excursions, as well as diapers and additional childcare hours, can be used.
Closure Times
Are the facilities closed at certain times, and is there emergency care available?
Yes, to enhance care quality and support our staff, the facilities are closed during the second, third, and fourth weeks of Hamburg’s summer school holidays, as well as for a few days around Christmas and New Year. We also conduct up to four professional development days per year, during which no care is provided.
Overall, as agreed in the Hamburg State Framework Agreement, the facilities are closed for a maximum of 20 working days plus 4 professional develpment days per calendar year.
During closure periods, emergency care is provided for children who cannot be cared for by their guardians. These emergency spots can also be arranged in facilities operated by other providers. This does not apply to professional development days.
Frieda and Baki are exceptions: Starting in 2026, we will be testing a new concept called “Family Time” at Frieda and Baki. Here, too, we hope that children will spend the second, third, and fourth weeks of the Hamburg school holidays together with their parents; however, the facilities will remain open.
CARE App
Does Lorenzini have a daycare app?
Yes, we use the CARE App to optimize communication between parents and the daycare. Information and user instructions can be found at: CARE App Tutorials
Food & Drink
Where does the food for the children come from?
We prioritize healthy and nutritious food. Lunch is provided by a professional children’s catering service (currently Porschke Kinderküche) and is sourced from organic farming whenever possible.
What else is available to eat?
Children can have breakfast upon parental request. They can choose from muesli, cornflakes, whole grain bread, cheese, jam, honey, and yogurt.
Children can also have dinner at the facility if requested by parents. This includes bread with cheese, cream cheese, and raw vegetables.
What about fruits and vegetables?
Fresh fruit and raw vegetables are available to children during two additional snack times.
What do the children drink?
Throughout the day, water and unsweetened fruit tea are available. Fresh whole milk is also offered at breakfast and dinner.
Outdoor Time
When do the children go outside?
Preschool children typically go outside daily.
What playgrounds are available?
Several large playgrounds are available in the immediate vicinity of all facilities. Each facility also has its own outdoor area of varying sizes.
What else happens outdoors?
As part of projects, children actively explore and investigate their environment. Outings to playgrounds, parks, and forests are conducted regularly.
Movement
Does an art daycare also cater to the children’s need for physical activity?
Yes, this starts in the infant area with training in fine and gross motor skills. Children climb, tumble, crawl, and walk. Daily outings to playgrounds and parks ensure that all children have ample opportunities for physical activity and fun.
Additional Educational Offers
Do the children visit museums?
Yes, from around the age of four, children participate in art and cultural trips, which may include visits to the art museum, Klick-Kindermuseum, or a children’s farm.
